1 September 2006 - Rails, a monthly magazine of Dutch Railways, was published between 1951-12008 en was known for its avant-garde graphic design. In September 2006 an issue was published with a legendary cover based on the names of 100 upcoming designers and architects. 23 March 2006 - Life -style magazine Eigen Huis & Tuin interviewed Michel Heesen and Kobbe Nouwens on the winning design for the Bouwfonds MAB prize 2006.

Interview television documentary Avro

15 March 2006 - Dutch television Avro broadcasted a five episodes documentary called 'Ontwerpprijs 2006'. Michel Heesen, Thomas Gillet and Kobbe Nouwens were filmed during the making of their winning design IN/OP. The episode ends with Heesen and Nouwens descending on their snowboards in the French Alps: the design was handed in a week before the deadline.

Debate Nirov: urban revitalization in NL

1 November 2005 - Nirov invited Michel Heesen and the other contesters for the final round of the Bouwfonds MAB prize for a debate on urban revitalization, moderated by Fred Schoorl. The debate was published in NAW-magazine #19.

Lecture TU/e: football stadiums

1 August 2005 - Eindhoven University of Technology asked Zwarts & Jansma Architects (ZJA) to give a lecture on the architectural and structural design of football stadiums. Michel Heesen lectured at Feijenoord stadium De Kuip in Rotterdam, which has been extended with extra stands, a canopy and an added facilities building, all designed by ZJA.

Architecture guide for Pearson Benelux

1 July 2005 - In commission of Pearson publishers, Michel Heesen wrote an architecture guide, offering a retrospect of 100 years of Dutch and Flemish architecture.

The guide offers nine guided tours in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Groningen, Maastricht, Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent.

Essay-competition TU Delft: 2nd prize

1 December 2002 - Michel Heesen has received the 2nd prize in an international open essay competition organized by the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of TU Delft.

Heesen wrote an essay on alternative spatial planning strategies for the lowlands of the Netherlands.

1 Jan 2002 - Michel Heesen has written a thesis on the urban development of Los Angeles between 1900 and 2000. Title of the thesis is 'Los Angeles: from 'Bienvenidos' to 'Not in my backyard'.

9 February 2009 - Island Schokland is a World Heritage site: a former island with an organical shape amidst the straight, orthogonal structure of the surrounding Dutch polderland. On this island, everything is highly regulated. Albeit the clear hint offered by a picknick table, the function of this area is stated on a sign.

The four inhabitants of the tiny island recently received their own zipcode: tourists had a hard time finding the site on their navigation device.

24 November 2007 - After winning the 3rd prize in the Casanova 2007 competition, Michel Heesen was interviewed by newspaper Algemeen Dagblad on his design for floating greenhouse dwellings and a mud spa in the wetlands between Rotterdam and The Hague.

1 August 2007 - Michel Heesen has written an unsolicited essay on the urban planning of Maasvlakte 1, the most westbound industrial area in the harbour of Rotterdam.
